Analysis of Risks of Foreign Economic Activity of Industrial Enterprises on the Example of the Voronezh Region

Subject. In modern conditions, foreign economic activity is a priority for both corporate strategy and national policy. Access to foreign markets allows diversifying the risks of dependence on the domestic market, increasing competitiveness, optimizing supplies, and ensuring economies of scale.
Purpose. To identify, analyse, and evaluate the key risks of the foreign economic activity of enterprises in the Voronezh Region, and subsequently develop recommendations for treating the identified risks.
Methodology. We used the research information base, formed on the basis of official statistical data characterizing the volume of industrial production, the structure of industrial exports, and the dynamics of the foreign trade turnover of enterprises in the Voronezh Region in 2020–2024, to establish the context of risk analysis in the conditions of a systemic geo-economic crisis. We identified and ranked the risks of foreign economic activity using expert evaluation.
Results. We formed a register of key risks affecting the resilience and efficiency of foreign trade operations of industrial enterprises in the Voronezh Region. We classified political, economic, monetary and financial, and operational risks as the most significant ones. We identified bottlenecks in the risk management system at the regional and corporate levels.
Conclusions. The complex of measures and mechanisms (organizational, financial, and informational) proposed based on the results of the risk assessment has a high potential for reducing risks and increasing the resilience of the foreign economic complex of the Voronezh Region.
