Abstract

The purpose is to study the spatial differentiation of the production and investment index of the North-Western Federal District in general and the Kaliningrad region in particular. Materials and Methods. A number of investment and economic indicators per capita for each region were used to estimate the index. Results and discussion. In the course of analyzing the obtained indices, five types of territorial development of the regions were identified. More than half of the studied regions belong to the territories with a low level of development (recessive type and territories with a low level of development), which indicates certain problems in the socio-economic development of the NWFD. Also within the framework of the study the indicators of production and investment development of the Kaliningrad region were studied in detail. Conclusions. The spatial heterogeneity in the economic development of the territory has been revealed, which indicates the need for a comprehensive assessment of socio-economic development of the area.
