Abstract

The aim of the investigation is to clarify the estimates of diff erences in snow accumulation in connection with the meteorological regime in accordance with the characteristics of the vegetation cover. Materials and methods. The study examined snow cover under meteorological conditions for the main forest vegetation types of the Central Forest State Nature Reserve. A statistical analysis of snow cover and weather data was conducted to identify spatial and temporal changes over the period 2000-2025. Results and discussion. For the territory of the Central Forest State Nature Biosphere Reserve, the presence and extent of diff erences in snow storage were identifi ed at the long-term and seasonal levels for the period 2000-2025 in connection with the peculiarities of the distribution of forest vegetation against the background of low spatial variability in total air temperature and precipitation. With a uniform distribution of meteorological conditions, a consistent diff erence in snowpack peaks and snow accumulation durations is observed in forested areas dominated by deciduous and coniferous trees. Signifi - cant long-term trends have been identifi ed only for air temperature. Using correlation analysis, the presence of a connection between the dynamics of snow maximums with air temperature and precipitation has been shown for the long-term course and, to a greater extent, for winters with medium and high snowfall. From the point of view of spatial distribution, the most noticeable connection is the variability of maximum snow storage and air temperature in forest areas with a predominance of deciduous species. Сconclusion. The relevance and novelty of the obtained results lies in their clarifi cation of the spatial structure of snow cover formation, with the potential for their use in regional environmental assessments. The study's potential lies in the expansion and use of microclimate observation data in its analysis.
