The purpose is to assess the dynamics of bioclimatic conditions in Russia in the period 1980-2024 according to the ERA5 reanalysis using the universal thermal comfort index (UTCI), taking into account the infl uence of atmospheric circulation. Materials and methods. The information base was the daily values of the UTCI indices calculated according to ERA5 reanalysis data in nodes of a regular grid with a resolution of 0,5×0,5 for the entire territory of Russia in the period 1980-2024. The UTCI index series were subjected to statistical processing. The correlation between air temperature and atmospheric circulation indices with the UTCI index was assessed. Results and discussion. In January, extreme cold stress is observed in the coastal zone of the Arctic Ocean from the Yamal Peninsula to the mouth of the Kolyma River in Yakutia. In April, an extensive zone of moderate cold stress forms in most of Siberia. In July, the bioclimatic picture is quite homogeneous – there is no heat stress everywhere. In October, moderate cold stress is observed in the southern regions of Russia, and severe cold stress is observed in the north of the country. An analysis of the slope coeffi cients of the linear trend of the UTCI index indicates an improvement in bioclimatic conditions throughout Russia in all seasons of the year. Conclusion. An analysis of the correlations between the UTCI index and atmospheric circulation indices showed that in January the North Atlantic Oscillation (r = 0,6) has the greatest warming eff ect on the Russian bioclimate, while SCAND blocking leads to cooling (r = -0,6). The East Atlantic – West Russia oscillation (EA/WR) has the most eff ective eff ect on the bioclimate in summer (r = -0,7), contributing to a decrease in air temperature.
