The purpose of this work is to assess the ecological state of aquifers and horizons used for domestic and drinking purposes in the Lipetsk Region based on sanitary and chemical indicators of underground water quality. Materials and methods. 63 settlements within 18 districts of the Lipetsk Region were selected as monitoring control points. From April 2025 to the 1st half of 2026, 119 water samples from decentralized sources were collected during fi eld studies, including samples from wells (39 samples), springs (21 samples), wells (12 samples), and water pumps (47 samples). Chemical analysis was conducted on 6 priority pollutants of Lipetsk water (hardness, iron, manganese, boron, ammonia, and nitrate nitrogen) using classical and instrumental analysis methods. Results. Groundwater of all aquifers belong to the category of «hard» and «very hard». The content of iron, is within the norm, except for the Neogene-Quaternary complex in the territory of Usman (1,1 mg/l) and Upper Devonian complex within Krasninsky (1,22 mg/l) areas. In the groundwater of the Upper Devonian complex (Zadonsk-Yelets and Yevlanovsk-Livensky horizons), in the Zadonsky, Khlevensky, and Terbunsky districts, boron content exceeding the standards by a factor of 1.02–1.44 was found, as well as ammonium nitrogen concentrations in the Terbunsky and Dolgorukovsky districts above the permissible level by a factor of 1.12–1.14. Conclusion. The results of assessing the ecological state of aquifers exploited for decentralized water supply in the Lipetsk Region generally confi rm that water quality complies with sanitary and chemical safety standards. At the same time, exceedances of maximum permissible concentrations for a number of priority pollutants are recorded in individual samples. Due to the identifi ed deviations, the necessity has been substantiated to intensify monitoring observations of the state of decentralized sources.
