The situation of the city undergoes changes in different time periods. These changes were considered from the late 1950s to the present. An analysis of the transformation of the links of Leningrad-Saint Petersburg was carried out with the help of the author's method of the coefficient of transport connectivity and passenger-transport zoning of the territories with which the city is connected by rail. The most thoroughly transport zoning was carried out on the territory of the former USSR. When studying the connections of other cities in Russia using the method of transport connectivity coefficient, the author used this zoning as a basis.
