Abstract

The article analyzes the current and prospective formats of institutional cooperation within the international (transboundary) basin of the Ural River. Ecological and hydrological specifics of the investigated basin are noted (transformation of the hydrological regime, transboundary transport of pollut-ants, reduction of biological diversity, etc.). In this regard, in the investigated region, the development of an interstate strategy based on an integrated approach to water resources management in the context of trans-boundary water use is an urgent priority. Thus, one of the key aspects is the definition of institutional formats for interstate interaction.
