Abstract

The first version of this chapter of the textbook «Geography of Russia» was written around 2005. In preparation for printing, the material has been updated. The modern structure of industry monitoring has been disclosed. Specific monitoring services of the Central Federal District have been shown as a model of monitoring organization in the regions of the Russian Federation.
