Abstract

The current period is characterized by reduced concentrations of copper and zinc in the Volga water. The article explains that the observed reduction is due to both changes of the natural conditions and to the overall decrease of anthropogenic impact. The expected implementation of the state-initiated programme «The Volga Rehabilitation» can help reduce the content of metals to background levels. The best possible results of the programme implementation can be expected in case the industrial discharges are reduced.
