The article is devoted to the memory of Vladimir Ivanovich Fedotov, a famous geographer, scientist and talented teacher. He devoted many years to work at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism of Voronezh State University, where he worked his way up from student, postgraduate and lecturer to Dean of the Faculty. The authors focus on his organizational and scientific-pedagogical achievements in the development of university ecological and geographical education, which ensured progressive development of the faculty and geographical science during about 30 years of his leadership in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
