Abstract

The article is devoted to the researches of K.K. Klaus and M.N. Bogdanov, whose works are considered to be the first fundamental biogeographical works of the Volga region. K.K. Klaus is a pioneer of complex biogeographical studies in the region and of quantitative methods in botany and plant geography. M.N. Bogdanov left behind a fundamental scientific description of the organic world of the region. He was the first to carry out zoogeographic zoning of the area.
