Introduction: the analysis of the state of the mining industry in the Republic of Burundi is a topical issue for the industrial development of the country. The purpose of this study is to assess the geological, geochemical and geoecological situation of non-ferrous metal mining in the Republic of Burundi, assess reserves and the possibility of their use.
Results and discussion: the data presented in the article are taken from the documentation of local and foreign companies, as well as government agencies involved in mining activities in the Republic of Burundi. The development of mining companies in Burundi based on exploitation allows to increase the stability of the system of analysis of collected samples, ore quality and the amount of exploited resources per year. Systematic analysis of samples in territories combined on the basis of data coming from different sources allows to significantly clarify information on reserves and evaluate the development technology and study the possibility of transferring mineral extraction to an industrial basis using modern methods and technology.
Conclusion: It is recommended to solve all the above problems in the near future by adopting a new Mining Code of the Republic of Burundi, which will solve all the problems arising from artisanal mining, with the transition to industrial exploitation.
