Emanation characteristics of highly oxidized («sooty») brown coals from several deposits of Kansko-Achinsk coal basin southwestern part have been studied. All samples have high contents of radioactive elements of the uranium series. The experiments showed high emanation of the “sooty” coals. Emanation coefficients are ranged from 0.24 to 0.34 for the dry samples, and from 0.49 to 0.65 for the wet samples. Equilibrium concentrations establishing time of radon in the cumulative camera atmosphere corresponds to 5 half-lives of 222Rn. Radon flux density magnitude from the samples surface, participated in the experiment ranged from 0.013 to 0.017 Bq/сm2s one gram of the substance to dry and from 0.025 to 0.035 for wet.
