Introduction: the study of specific features of large granitoid complexes of a continental crust is of key importance in geodynamic reconstructions of crustal evolution. An example of such an object is the Pavlovsk granitoid complex associated with the active continental margin of the Volga-Don Orogen from the Voronezh crystalline massif (VCM). The previously created density model of the Earth's crust of the VCM given to assess the conditions of the Pavlovsk batholith granitoids formation, based on numerical one-dimensional thermal modeling.
Methodology: the problem of the lithosphere thermal evolution was considered in a one-dimensional case for the minimum required number of initial environmental parameters characterizing collision of lithospheric plates under conditions of their subduction. Boundary and initial conditions of a one-dimensional nonstationary problem of the lithosphere temperature evolution for the stages of initialization, stationary activity, and relaxation of mantle activity in the underlying plate are considered. The numerical model of the problems is based on canonical representations of solutions for integral Laplace and Fourier transformations in compliance with the correctness conditions on a one-dimensional space-time grid.
Discussion of the results: the simulation results given to consider the influence of environmental parameters on the general process of the lithosphere thermal evolution. We have shown that the formation of the Pavlovsk batholith granitoids ranges from 20 to 40 Ma at the underlying plate temperature of about 1230−1280°C. The depth of granitoid formation varies in the range of 17−40 km at the average temperature of their melting from the lower crustal rocks of about 900−930°C. At the interval of the duration of batholith formation, the anomalous heat flux from the mantle was about 30−45 mW/m2, which corresponds to the average intensity of mantle processes in the collision zone.
Conclusion: The lithosphere parameters estimates and Pavlovsk batholith formation conditions were obtained through numerical univariate modeling of the lithosphere thermal evolution.
