The paper discusses the features of the material composition of the Upper Cretaceous sediments represented by carbonate rocks and their varieties silicified to various degrees. The mineral composition of the insoluble carbonate residue represented by montmorillonite, heylandite, illite, metal sulphides and gypsum, which indicates the formation of these rocks in arid environments of the lagoon. Silica formations, in addition to the above-mentioned, contain silicite minerals. These rocks contain inclusions of native lead in size from hundredths of a millimeter to 5.0 cm. Metal genesis is associated with its precipitation from fluid emanations under the action of the hydrocarbon component.
