Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this article is to describe the ranges of phase diagrams for the existence of clathrate hydrates and to develop and verify a method for determining equilibrium thermobaric conditions of hydrate formation with increased accuracy.

Experimental: A generalized scheme of ranges of equilibrium thermobaric conditions for the formation or dissociation of individual hydrate formers was constructed. A dependence for the accurate determination of the crystallization temperature of water as a function of system pressure was proposed; this dependence is the starting point for determining the state ranges of hydrate systems. Formalization of the equilibrium thermobaric parameters showed that the hydrate-formation temperature of individual substances changes according to a power-law dependence in the first range, a logarithmic dependence in the second range, and a polynomial dependence in the third range.

Conclusions: The average deviation between calculated and experimental values for gaseous/liquid hydrate formers does not exceed: methane, 0.19 %; ethane, 0.10/0.64 %; propane, 0.05/0.01 %; i-butane, 0.04/0.01 %; cyclopropane, 0.11 %; cyclopentane, 0.06/0.05 %; ethylene, 0.18 %; acetylene, 0.19 %; propylene, 0.01 %; carbon monoxide, 0.09 %; carbon dioxide, 0.58/0.07 %; hydrogen sulfide, 0.06/0.07 %; sulfur dioxide, 0.10/0.01 %; nitric oxide, 0.07 %; nitrogen, 0.14 %; oxygen, 0.04 %; argon, 0.29/0.12 %; krypton, 0.13 %; xenon, 0.07/0.14 %; hydrogen, 0.08 %; and chlorine, 0.39/0.01 %. The average deviation is 0.14 % for gaseous hydrate formers and 0.11 % for liquid hydrate formers. This confirms the accuracy of the proposed method
