Separate scientific approaches of Doctor of Law, Professor Petr Pavlovich Serkov to the formation of the concept of modern legal policy and the definition of its role in the legal development of a person, society and the state are considered. The judgments of P. P. Serkov about the essence of legal policy are evaluated; the specifics of the patterns of legal regulation and the mechanism of legal relations are revealed. The legal policy is embedded by the author into the existing legal doctrines of the development of society and the state. It is concluded that the monograph by P. P. Serkov is a major contribution both to legal science and to the future development of the theory of the mechanism of legal relations created by P. P. Serkov.
