Abstract

During the development of bolshevistic doctrine in criminal’s personality and behavior in USSR/Russia, some tough problems and contradictions arose in the fi eld of criminological (criminal-anthropological) approaches to the analysis of patterns and modus operandi elements of violent offenders. In the article the authors attempt to generalize the causes of mentioned methodological inconsistencies. Also, based on the empirical material represented in Consolidated Serial Homicide Offender Database, using the methods of hierarchical cluster analysis, the authors prove the existence both of structure of modus operandi elements and a number of neuropsychological patterns of serial behavior killers. Moreover, a connection is established between traumatic stress exposure, forms of maltreatment of the subject of crimes in childhood and modus operandi elements.
