Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies have become increasingly widespread in the last decade. The positive effects of their use are hard to underestimate – streamlined workflows, increased efficiency, time savings and ease of use. Nowadays, we can see how an increasing number of AI-based programs are being implemented in judicial systems around the world. In Russia, the use of AI in the court system is at an initial stage. In this connection the authors of the article reviewed foreign experience in the use of AI in the judicial system. The authors concluded that AI technologies have significant potential as a tool in the justice system, however, when implementing AI-based technologies, a number of ethical issues and legal risks must be taken into account.
