The article analyzes the evolution of the scientific positioning of self-regulation in the economy, substantiates its modern legislative and scientific interpretation. On the basis of historical and comparative legal methods, system analysis, it was concluded that self-regulation in the economy is an integral part of the administrative-legal regulation of economic relations, which is distinguished by a certain independence of subjects. Such independence is expressed in vesting self-regulatory organizations with regulatory and control functions. Attention is drawn to the sectoral nature of self-regulation and its support by self-control, which can be considered from the point of view of an element of public control in the economy. The results of the study allow us to formulate a position that the use of self-regulation mechanisms in the economy reflects a broader understanding of publicity in the modern management system.
