Formation of the right of access to justice in criminal proceedings at historical stages of the Russian state

The content of the right of access to justice at the historical stages of development of Russian criminal procedural legislation from its inception – Criminal Procedure Charter of 1864 to the current Criminal Procedural Code of the Russian Federation was analyzed. Parallels between the positive and negative aspects of the provisions that existed at different historical stages of development, as well as at the stages of the process, preserved in the current legislation, are drawn. For each historical stage the conclusions about the state of the right of access to justice in the relevant historical period are given.
