History of the development of professional fraud in pre-revolutionary Russia

Abstract

The article analyzes the history of the origin of the concept of «fraud», the normative consolidation of the specified corpus delicti (starting with the Judicial Code of 1550 and ending with the Criminal Code of 1903). When studying the state of professional fraud in Russia in the XIX– early XX century, separate criminal legal measures to combat this type of criminal activity, including increased punishment, are considered for the repetition of the crime. The main criminal specializations of fraudsters in the study period, the place of professional fraudsters in the criminal hierarchy are revealed.
