Administrative-territorial structure of the subjects of the Russian Federation: basic theoretical and legal approaches and problems

The article analyzes the most significant views of representatives of the modern science of constitutional law on the concept and nature of the administrative-territorial structure as a constitutional legal institution and real legal relations. Attention is focused on the variety of terms characterizing the territorial organization of the state, and the lack of a clear relationship between them, the purpose of the administrative-territorial structure and its essence. The author's approach to understanding this phenomenon is proposed, taking into account the latest legislative transformations.
