The militia of the Ukrainian SSR in its historiography: towards the formulation of the problem

Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the historiography of the history of the militia of the Ukrainian SSR from the time of its formation and organization in the early years of the Soviet government until the moment of Ukraine's independence. The research material was the scientific research of scientists both in the fi eld of jurisprudence and in the fi eld of the history of the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, dedicated to the police of the Ukrainian SSR. The author of the article identifies and gradually explores three historical periods of scientific research on the militia of the Ukrainian SSR: the Soviet period, the time of independent Ukraine and the period of disintegration of the country after the state coup of 2014. There is concluded that the historiography of the militia of the Ukrainian SSR is constantly under development. The author also focuses on the attempts of some Ukrainian authors to falsify the history of the militia of the Ukrainian SSR with the help of Western support.
