Features of protection of children’s rights on the internet

Abstract

The article considers the features of protection of children’s rights in the development of the information society, taking into account the need to preserve and maintain the «principle of the best interests of the child». Using general and special scientific methods, including the method of comparative analysis, the method of quantitative assessment and the method of formal logic, the author systematizes the threats on the Internet that exist against children, explores the boundaries of the legal category “children” in relation to the issue of protecting their rights on the Internet, and tries to determine public, private and public principles in the general mechanism for protecting children's rights in the Internet space.
