Philosophical debates about free will in a mirror of contemporary culture

Abstract

The problem of free will is one of key philosophical problems. Development of scientific knowledge is a basis for transformation of discussion’s fi eld about compatibility of free will and determinism, free will and responsibility of subject, determinism and responsibility of subject conducted in different areas of social, humanitarian and natural scientific knowledge. The compatibilism and incompatibilism, representing opposite contemporary philosophical positions, actively use arguments borrowed from a fi eld of neuroscience, expanding ideas about a functioning of human consciousness.
