Abstract

The article deals with the appointment and activities of members of the public in the qualification boards of judges of the subjects of the Russian Federation. The problems of civil control in the system of selection, appointment and promotion of judges as a part of the modernization of the judicial system are considered. The data confirming existence of various approaches to conditions and order of appointment of public representatives in the subjects of the Russian Federation is provided. The necessity of interpretation at the legislative level the concept of "a public representative" is stated, its formulation is proposed. There is a need to inform the society about the activities of public representatives in the qualification boards of the subjects of the Russian Federation with the use of modern information technologies. The need for legal regulation of approaches to the issue of appointment of public representatives to the qualification boards of the subjects of the Russian Federation is substantiated.
