This article considers the problem of substantiating the findings of the court in the descriptive and motivating part of the sentence. The validity of the sentence implies a consistent and complete presentation of the investigated evidence, an assessment of the parties’ arguments, the reasonability of the judgment. The author analyzes the legislative requirements for the substantiation of the final findings of the court and the approaches that have been developed in law enforcement to verify the validity of the sentence.
