The problems of the emergence and spread of extremism on the Internet threaten the security of Russian society, therefore they do not lose their relevance. The purpose of the article is to analyze Russian and international legislation regulating countering extremism, assess the risks of Internet extremism moving from the virtual space to the real life of Russians, and develop recommendations for improving legislation. The methods of research were legal analysis and synthesis of existing extremist acts. The article examines the problems and gaps of Russian laws aimed at preventing and suppressing extremism, and also makes proposals to change the situation with the growth of such crimes and offenses.
