Importance: opportunities and limitations of the development of poultry farming in the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District in the context of theoretical and empirical aspects of study. Purpose: to determine the place of the Far Eastern Federal District in the development of poultry farming in the Russian Federation, to identify economic and environmental factors that hinder or contribute to the development of poultry farming in the macroregion. Research design: аn overview study of the parameters of the level of development of the poultry industry by federal districts was carried out in the context of categories of farms, including an assessment of the level of production of eggs and poultry meat in the Far Eastern Federal District in comparison with other federal districts. Results: trends in the development of the Far Eastern Federal District in the poultry industry were identified, the indicators of the macroregional structure of the bird population by districts, the structure of the bird population by categories of farms, the specialization of the poultry industry and the volume of production by districts were assessed, and the results obtained were compared with the volume of consumption by the population of poultry products, in particular, the production and consumption of eggs per 1 person in macroregions. An assessment of the problems of the development of the Far East in terms of environmental and economic restrictions was given.
