Abstract

Importance: the subject of this study is the passive operations of commercial banks of the Russian Federation. The authors investigated the dynamics and structure of loans, deposits and other funds attracted by credit institutions. The article analyzes the dynamics and structure of funds of individuals and legal entities in accounts in credit institutions. The study provides an assessment of the volume and structure of savings (deposit) certificates, bonds and promissory notes issued by credit institutions. Purpose: to assess the trends in the development of Russian banks’ activities to attract resources in the new economic conditions associated with the tightening of the monetary policy of the Bank of Russia, high competition between commercial banks and other credit institutions based on the customer base. Research design: the analysis of banking activities to attract resources, conducted based on a sample of their main characteristics, made it possible to summarize the problems of carrying out passive operations by commercial banks in the country and develop measures to improve them in the future in new economic and geopolitical conditions. Results: the composition of the strengths and weaknesses of the bank’s passive operations established in the course of the study can form an information base for justifying practical measures to improve them by developing competitive advantages in attracting customers, and most importantly, their retention in the bank.
