The development of agriculture as the basis of the mechanism of ensuring food security of Russia in modern conditions

Iimportance: the essence of the study is to determine the presence or absence of food independence of Russia as an integral component of the country’s food security, taking into account the development of the agricultural complex of the Russian Federation, self-sufficiency in food and their domestic consumption. Purpose: the purpose of this topic is to study the mechanism of ensuring food security through food independence, which is based on the development of agriculture, as well as the problems and prospects of its development in Russia in the presence of sanctions pressure from the collective West. Research design: the research is based on the analysis of the legislative framework and statistical data on agriculture in Russia as the basis of food security, as well as on the analysis of domestic production of agricultural products, raw materials and food for the domestic needs of the country. Results: аnalysis of the current state of Russia’s food security and prospects for full self-sufficiency in food products at the expense of its own agricultural production based on the identification of the dynamics of the development of the agro-industrial complex of Russia over the past 20 years. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the possibility of their application to build temporary forecasts of the production of agro-industrial complex products and domestic food consumption in the Russian Federation, as well as to assess the country’s food independence as the main element of food security.
