Threats and risks to the economic security of an organization (corporation): concepts and classification

Abstract

Importance: the subject of this study is threats and risks to the economic security of an organization (corporation), viewed as key components of the essence of the state of protection of vital interests of an economic entity, ensuring its sustainable and stable development. Purpose: to systematize and review the essence, content and interrelationships of such economic categories as «threats» and «risks» to the economic security of an organization (corporation), as well as to develop their meaningful classifications according to various criteria identified in scientific, educational and methodological literature and practice. Research design: the object of research is threats and risks of economic security at the corporate level. The information base of the research is the regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation, scientific and educational literature, articles in periodicals of domestic and foreign authors devoted to the issues of the essence and classification of threats and risks to the economic security of an organization (corporation). The work uses general scientific methods of cognition: analysis, synthesis, comparison, analogy, methods of abstract thinking, etc. Results: the results of the study are the systematization of theoretical approaches to the disclosure of the essence of the concepts of “threat to economic security” and “risk to economic security” at the corporate level, the development of meaningful classifications of the reviewed economic categories according to various signs in tabular and graphical forms based on the analysis of the opinions of domestic and foreign authors of scientific and educational literature, as well as the formation of theoretical and practical conclusions about the essence of, interrelationships and interconnectedness of threats and risks within the framework of the organization’s (corporation’s) economic security system.
