Abstract

Importance: the formation of state power through free elections is a fundamental mechanism ensuring both the legal security of the state, through the formation of a legitimate, accountable, and replaceable government, and economic security, since election results directly influence macroeconomic policy and, ultimately, economic growth, well-being of the country and its citizens. The younger generation is the guarantor of tomorrow’s stability and plays a key role in shaping the future of our society, serving as a special electoral resource for the formation of state power and a factor in sustainable economic development. Therefore, studying the causes of absenteeism and methods for combating it is a highly relevant issue, the study of which contributes not only to an understanding of the individual development of the subject, but also to the development of a strategy for the long-term socio-economic development of the state and strengthening its economic and legal security. Purpose: the purpose of the study is to study the causes of absenteeism among modern youth, as well as to identify relevant forms and methods for increasing their electoral activity. Research design: the implementation of improved forms and methods for enhancing the economic, legal, and sociopolitical culture of young people and students is assumed to enhance their civic engagement and electoral activity, which in turn will contribute to strengthening the state’s national security. Results: a survey of VSTU students-future and young voters-was used to study the causes of contemporary youth absenteeism and propose relevant methods for increasing the civic and political engagement of young people and students in the electoral process.
