Abstract

Importance: the relevance of the chosen research topic is determined by the need for integrated development of rural territories and sustainable development of agribusiness entities to achieve food security goals; solving problems of import dependence in material and technical support of agriculture; improving the quality of life in rural areas; and improving demographics. The article analyzes the impact of agricultural organizations’ performance on the level of sustainable development of rural territories. Purpose: development of a theoretical and methodological approach and elaboration of methodological tools for analyzing the performance of agribusiness entities in the context of their impact on sustainable development of rural territories. Research design: the study is based on data from the agricultural holding “EkoNiva”. It was established that sustainable development of rural territories is closely interconnected with the performance of agricultural organizations, their impact on socio-economic indicators, and contribution to the improvement of rural agglomerations. It was revealed that existing approaches in scientific literature to assessing sustainable development of agribusiness and rural territories have multidirectional vectors. To ensure a systematic and comprehensive approach to assessing sustainable development of agriculture and rural territories, methodological tools are proposed that provide calculation of an integrated indicator of sustainable development at macro-, meso – and micro-levels. Results: the task of modifying the system of indicators used to assess sustainable development of agribusiness entities and rural territories has been solved. The proposed methodological approach will improve the quality of management decisions aimed at achieving the goals of the development strategy of the agro-industrial complex and the spatial development strategy of the Russian Federation.
