Abstract

Importance: сlinical and economic aspects of treating patients with Parkinson’s disease, in particular, the structure and dynamics of direct medical costs depending on the stage of the disease, quality of life of patients with different treatment regimens, the ratio of costs and clinical benefit. Purpose: to evaluate the economic effectiveness of drug therapy for Parkinson’s disease using the methods of clinical and economic analysis “cost of disease” and “cost-utility” depending on the stage of the disease, to determine the optimal treatment regimens taking into account costeffectiveness. Research design: retrospective analysis of clinical and anamnestic data of patients of the Budgetary Healthcare Institution of the VO “Voronezh Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1”; assessment of direct medical costs of drug therapy using current retail prices of drugs, the inclusion criterion is a verified diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease with determination of the stage according to the Hoehn and Yahr scale. Results: a direct correlation was found between the cost of annual therapy and the cost of achieving one “quality year of life”; the need for early initiation of therapy to optimize the cost-utility ratio was confirmed. The feasibility of a differentiated approach to financing the treatment of patients with different stages of Parkinson’s disease is substantiated; the data analyzed by the authors can be used to predict the burden on the healthcare system, optimize treatment regimens taking into account the cost-utility ratio, and plan budgets depending on the stage of Parkinson’s disease.
