Improvement to the process of online orders distribution in courier service: a regulating technique and architecture of the decision support system

Abstract

Purpose: to describe the modernization of the courier service by developing and implementing a regulatory method for distributing online orders and developing a special decision support system (DSS) to automate this process. Discussion: аfter analyzing the software market for courier service automation, the authors identified a some shortcomings, among which are the lack of options for choosing the courier transport when calculating its route, as well as the inability to customize the work schedule of the courier with regard to his preferences. These drawbacks do not allow flexible and efficiently organize the work of the courier service. Results: The authors proposed a regulatory method for distributing online orders among couriers, taking into account the aforementioned shortcomings, and also developed an architecture of DSS for its automation.
