Types of efficiency of the public sector of the economy and their classification

Abstract

Purpose: the article is devoted to scientific approaches to the economic category «efficiency of the public sector of the economy» and classification of its types, since at the present stage of socio-economic development, the issues of improving the efficiency of the public sector are relevant for most countries of the world. Discussion: through the public sector of the economy, the process of production of public goods is carried out, as well as the state regulation of the economy, which implies the significance and importance of scientific research in this area. However, in modern economic theory, the methodological issues of evaluating the effectiveness of the public sector have not yet been fully developed, there is no unified definition of this economic category and classification of types of public sector efficiency. Results: the author offers a classification of types of economic efficiency of the public sector of the economy, which from various positions reflects the effectiveness and efficiency of its functioning. In the process of assessing the effectiveness of various areas of state activity is advisable, in our opinion, to summarize the target, resource, socio-economic, institutional and social indicators systematization of which will allow us to fully assess the effectiveness of the public sector of the economy.
