Abstract

Purpose: the article deals with the study of the prospects of economic cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, the identification of areas of contact and mutual interests. Discussion: the author provides the analysis of joint trade turnover, changes in imports and exports, existing investment flows, active programs of cooperation and strategies of mutual development, as well as the impact of the pandemic on trade relations of countries in 2020. The article contains the study of compliance of forecasts for 2020 with real indicators during of a pandemy, adjusted forecasts for the next few years. Results: the author concludes that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan at the moment are more political rather than economic in nature, which is the result of the difference in the development of industry and economy, as well as the raw materials orientation of Kazakhstan imports. Countries have the potential of cooperation in the labor, scientific and territorial-transport spheres, the transport corridor «One Belt-One Way» carries great prospects for further cooperation and development.
