Abstract

Purpose: the author aims to develop and test a methodology for assessing the functioning of socially oriented nonprofit organizations in Russian regions. Discussion: most of the methodologies for evaluating the functioning of nonprofit organizations affect only the aspect of their internal efficiency. The lack of comprehensive assessments should be completed by the author's method. In the course of the study, the author proposes an algorithm for calculating the integral index, which allowed differentiating regions by the level of development of socially oriented nonprofit organizations. Results: as a result of the distribution of the subjects of the Russian Federation into groups, seven groups of regions were identified by the level of development of socially oriented nonprofit organizations in the regions. The analysis revealed that the level of development of socially oriented nonprofit organizations in most regions today is not sufficient for their active and effective participation as full partners of the state in solving social problems.
