Abstract

The influence of lithium perchlorate as a mobile phase (MP) component on chromatographic
behavior of amino compounds in reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) was
studied. It was shown that the addition of LiClO4 in MP (pH 2) in both isocratic and gradient elution mode
leads to the increase of retention for protonated bases and to the decrease of their peak asymmetry and peak
widths. It was found that the maximal effect observed at concentrations of LiClO4 in MP ≥ 0.2 M.
