Abstract

The ZnS powder with a particle size of 100-200 nm was obtained and its sorption properties were
studied. It is shown that the ZnS particles allow complete removal of copper, cadmium, europium and cerium
from aqueous solutions at pH 4-9. The high sorption rate of copper and cadmium is attributed to the
formation of sulfides with lower solubility. At the pH = 5 the adsorption capacity of ZnS particles was found
to be 15.5 mg/g, 8.03 mg/g and 5.56 mg/g for europium, strontium and cobalt, respectively.
