The significant non-ion-exchange sorption of glutamic acid by sulfonic cation-exchangers is
obtained in the conditions with high competitive hydrogen ions sorption. The dehydration rate
accompanying the non-ion-exchange sorption is defined for ion-exchangers with various degrees of crosslinking.
The heat of sorption in the system under study is determined by microcalorimetric method. The
concentration constants, the free energy, enthalpy and entropy of adsorption are calculated. These values
confirm that sorbate-sorbate and sorbate-water interactions are accompanying the sorption. This
conclusion correlates with IR-spectroscopic data obtained in this work.
