Abstract

The sorption of [Cr(C2O4)3]3- and [Cr(CNS)6]3- ions on the surface of oxihydroxide hydrogels of
iron (III) and aluminum depending on the hydrogels precipitation pH and the nature of background
electrolyte (NaClO4, NaCl and Na2SO4 for [Cr(C2O4)3]3- and KCNS for [Cr(CNS)6]3-) was studied. It is
found that one can arrange the studied tri-charged ions in the following row: [Fe(CN)6]3- ≥ [Cr(C2O4)3]3-
>> [Cr(CNS)6]3- depending on their adsorption affinity to the iron (III) oxihydroxide.
