Abstract

In order to avoid high antifungal and hydrophobic behaviour of ceramic membranes prepared
with metal oxides, polyene antibiotic Nystatin A was adsorbed from water, methanol, and dimethyl
formamide at the surfaces of silica, alumina, and ceramic material. The adsorption isotherms of Nystatin
were studied under static conditions. It was found that the densest modified layer is formed during
Nystatin adsorption at the methanol – silica interface. Optimum conditions for the surface modification of
ceramic compounds with polyene antibiotics were obtained. The microbiological activity of the modified
ceramic membrane to the content of Сandida utilis fungi in water was detected.
