Polyamine sulfone copolymer (N, N,-dimethyl -N, N- diallyl ammonium chloride with sulfur
dioxide) and nonionic surfactant (AF9-12) sorption isotherms onto the carbon black (furnace low-active
carbon) from aqueous solutions have been measured. Also the adsorption of the copolymer on the surface of
nonionic surfactant modified carbon black has been studied. Isotherms have been measured in the
temperature range 20-40°C. Surface modification of the carbon black increases the copolymer adsorption.
The adsorption of the test substances increases when the temperature is being increased. By use of this
relation the chemical interaction in the system sorbate - sorbent can be judged. Isosteric heats of adsorption
values have been calculated from the adsorption isotherms.
