Abstract

Sorbents on base of salts of transition metals have been proposed earlier by A.V. Kiselev for separation of low molecular weight polar organic compounds. However, the possibilities of such sorbents for gas-adsorption concentration are investigated far from complete. The aim of the work is to research the retention patterns and evaluate the analytical capabilities of sorbents on base of nonporous salts of transition metals for gas-adsorption concentration of low molecular weight N, O, S-containing organic compounds. The aqueous solutions of salts was applied to a macroporous support for gas chromatography to increase the surface area. Porochrom-III was chosen as an optimal carrier to obtain the composite sorbents on base of nonporous salts. It was shown that sorbent with this carrier has the highest retention parameters of organic compounds. Also, the hypothesis of a higher gas-adsorptive affinity of nickel (II) salts with respect to nitrogen-containing compounds and copper (II) to sulfur-containing substances was confirmed. Cobalt (II) chloride shows a higher ability to retain oxygen-containing compounds than copper (II) and nickel (II) chloride. It has been established that sorbents on base of salts of transition metals exceed other sorbents, including active carbons on the retention efficiency of certain organic compounds
