Cyprus in the russian color picture of the world: from lexicographic to advertising discourse

Abstract

The article reconstructs the actual coloristic idea of cypress on the basis of lexicographic data, fiction texts (Russian National Corpus), the results of directed associative experiment (611 respondents, 2021), advertising texts, using at various stages of the study the method of continuous sampling, descriptive-analytical, contextual, quantitative data processing method. The most significant results of the research are: 1) the list of color terms, including 27 units, updated in cypress coloristic descriptions; 2) a set of lexemes, expanding this list, representing the periphery of plant color representation; 3) a range of color composites (about 20) active in cypress descriptions; 4) detecting ambivalence in the interpretation, representing the mass coloristic stereotype of plant perception, the dominants of cypress descriptions: green, according to lexicographic sources and associative experiment, and black, according to the RNC; 5) the composition of cypress color near-nuclear zone, inclu ding white, blue, silver, yellow, brown, blue, gold, gray; 6) reflecting the individual author's perception of the plant, spectrum of color terms, fixed once (beige, malachite), as well as composites (black-majestic); 7) description of cypress coloristic descriptions functionality, implemented in color spatial and temporal dimensions – the color chronotope; 8) due to language pictorial and expressive potential and color terms functionality, production mechanism of new color terms based on cypress coloristic description. The results obtained make some contribution to the description of Russian color conceptosphere; could be applicable both in research activities carried out in the field of linguistics of color, in the development of the linguistic picture of the world aspects, and in educational and methodological work in preparation of courses in cognitive linguistics, linguistics of color, linguistics of text, copywriting; as well as in lexicographic practice.
