Abstract

The article deals with the semantic characteristics of independent infinitive sentences in Russian and Spanish. The author defines their position in the system of means expressing incentiveness; affecting the degree of infinitive sentence structure’s development. Contextual conditions of these sentences use are also described. The author makes a conclusion about the infinitive’s functional potential as another verb form’s substitute in Russian and Spanish.
