The paper touches upon the relation between theory and practice in lexicography, which is a channel of linguistic science. It is deemed that the development of theory in lexicographic practice brings up for the discussion an issue on the principles of compiling lexical entries in the dictionaries of new types. It is shown that the development of synonymic lexicography and its close connection with lexicology leads to the new methods and techniques for studying lexical units of similar meaning within the synonymic rows. The problem of lexicographic fixation of the members of synonymic rows arises due to the certain progress in the study of synonymy. The analysis of synonymic dictionaries of the Russian language leads us to the conclusion that the authors define different approaches for selecting the language material and use different principles of compiling dictionary entries. In this regard, new principles of the lexical material presentation in the dictionaries of synonymic rows are proposed. They are based on the fundamental principles of seme semasiology and the field concept of language. In return, a unified description of lexical entries in synonymic dictionaries will make them understandable to the public at large. At the same time, it is shown that obtaining the linguistic material for its presentation in synonymic dictionaries is carried out on the use of lexicographic, psycholinguistic and contextual research methods with subsequent integration of the results. The efficiency and effectiveness of each research method and methodology of in-depth integrated description of synonymic units in the language are noted. The sample of dictionary entry based on the conducted research is given at the end of the article.
